Berg,Paul
A biochemist who gained fame for his work with recombinant DNA. He was a member of the National Academy of Sciences who helped formulate National Institutes of Health policy on recombinant DNA in the mid- 1970s. Berg was awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1980, along with Walter Gilbert and Frederick Sanger, for work on recombinant DNA. He became head of the NIH Scientifi c Advisory Committee for the Human Genome Project in 1991.
